This introductory choir explores basic musical concepts to begin their journey by “finding their singing voice”, discovering the differences between soft and loud, sound and silence, high and low, and investigating their gift of movement. Because music is one of the best vehicles for early childhood learning, this experience will also include basic fundamentals of music such as echo singing, rhythm patterns, and the introduction of musical instruments.

This musical experience advances on the fundamentals of music learned in Young Musicians Choir. These first and second graders continue learning to read the musical score, music notation and basic terminology of music. They develop vocally as both an ensemble and as a “budding” soloist. Choristers will be exposed to Orff instruments and tone chimes. They will sing in worship services throughout the year to share God’s gift of music with others.

Cathy Ethridge, Conductor

This setting will build on the musical fundamentals and vocal production learned in the Celebrate Choir. These choristers will add sight-reading and part-singing to their musical skill set and experience God’s love for them through the singing of hymns and anthems. Rehearsals will incorporate the use of various instruments, tone chimes and handbells to enhance sight-reading and rhythm abilities. This choir will certainly enhance our worship services on several occasions this year.
