Oak Grove Nurture Ministries provide an opportunity for individuals and groups to care for others in our congregation.

Ministry with the Sick and Homebound

Opportunities for caring include visiting our sick and reaching out to our homebound members through cards, flower deliveries and visits.  Our meals ministry provides the tangible caring of a home cooked meal for those in crisis. Our Needles and Prayers Ministry knits and crochets prayer blankets, baby caps and stoma covers that are distributed in our congregation and to the community.

Health and Wellness

We offer various health ministries to our congregation, including exercise classes and blood pressure screening at Wednesday Night Supper.  Counseling and support groups are also available.  We support a quarterly blood drive to give back to our community.

Our weekly prayer list is distributed by email each week to individuals who pray for the needs listed.  If you are interested in adding your name and e-mail to our prayer chain e-mail list, contact Rachel Fullerton.

For more information on becoming involved with any of our Nurture Ministries, please contact Amy Morgan.

Oak Grove has a cooperative agreement with Care and Counseling Center of Georgia located at 1814 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033.  The Care and Counseling Center of Georgia is independent of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, but the church has assistance funds available for persons seeking counseling.   Persons seeking professional counseling may contact the Care and Counseling Center directly and apply for Oak Grove Assistance Funds.  Based on a sliding scale, the funds reduce the per visit fee for eligible persons to an amount between $10 and $50.

The Care and Counseling Center staff includes Pastoral Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Professional Counselors, and a Clinical Psychologist (PhD).  Medical staffing is provided through a contract relationship with a Psychiatrist (MD).
