FAQ

• What are the YCS hours?
School opens at 8:45 a.m. Dismissal begins at 11:50 a.m. We ask that you do not bring your child in earlier than 8:45 as teachers are preparing for their day. If you need to pick up your child, please do so before 11:45 a.m.

• What is the arrival / dismissal system at the preschool?
Children younger than 2 years old are to be dropped off and picked up from their classrooms. 3 year olds and Pre K students are dropped off to teachers at the circular driveway in front of the church from 8:45 – 9:00 a.m. If you arrive after 9:00, you will need to walk your child into the building and sign the tardy log. Two year olds have a staggered start time for carpool. Check with your teacher to see when they plan to begin carpool. Once your 2 year old class begins carpool, you will drop your child and pick them up at the carpool room door which is the driveway past the playground on Fair Oaks Drive.

All children who participate in morning carpool are picked up at the end of the school day from the same carpool room which is the driveway past the Fair Oaks Drive playground.

• What if we arrive late or need to pick up our child early?
Any child that arrives after 9:00 a.m. is asked to sign their child in at the office window and take an attendance slip to their teacher.

If you need to pick up your child before 11:50 a.m., please sign out at the front office. Once classes make their way to the carpool room, we ask that you pick them up in the carpool room and not pull them out of line.

• When is tuition due?
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. It is considered late after the 10th.

• Does my child need to be potty trained to be in your 3 year old program?
Our 3 year old classrooms are not set-up to change any soiled pants. We know that accidents occur. However, if you child happens to have one, a teacher will contact you to have you come change your child into clean clothes.

• Are there any requirements for me to volunteer in order for my child to attend?
All families are asked to serve two shifts per each consignment sale which take place in September and March. Also, we ask for each family to sign up and participate on a YCS Committee as detailed in the Volunteer Handbook you received in your registration packet. You will be asked about your interest in volunteering in your child’s class at our Meet and Greet opportunities in August.

• Do you ever offer extended day hours?
Once your child is 3 years old and potty trained, they can stay until 2:00. It is $8 additional per day for each space you reserve. Children bring their own lunch when they stay.

• What immunizations must my child have in order to attend the Young Children’s School?
All children attending must have a current State of Georgia #3231 Immunization Form on file in our office by the beginning of school. We are audited by the Health Department every Fall and any child who does not have a current #3231 on file will not be allowed to attend and risk the chance of losing their placement.
