Staff Profile

Rev. Dr. Doug Gilreath is Oak Grove UMC's Senior Pastor. Although he was born in Texas, while his father was stationed at Carswell AFB, his family moved to Cobb County in 1965, and he has been in Georgia ever since. He is a graduate of Kennesaw State University, Candler School of Theology (M.Div.), and Columbia School of Theology (Doctor of Ministry). He was ordained as an elder in 1994. He has previously served at Due West UMC (youth pastor), Trinity UMC in Duluth (student pastor), and as Senior Pastor of Friendship UMC in Fayetteville, the Mountain Valley Circuit in Cleveland, Loudsville UMC, Locust Grove UMC, and Covington First UMC. Dr. Gilreath was previously the District Superintendent for the Northeast District of the North Georgia Conference where he served for 4 years based out of the Gainesville area. He and his wife Lynn, a retired teacher (math, social studies, and Georgia history), have 3 young adult children and 2 grandchildren, and 3 dogs! Dr. Gilreath began his tenure at Oak Grove on July 12th, 2026.
