The Drama Ministry at Oak Grove is open to all members of the church community, as well as those beyond our doors.  We see drama, dance and music as particular gifts endowed by our Creator and, as such, we offer these back to Him as we rehearse and perform together throughout the year.  Bearing in mind that family life and obligations are of primary importance, we work to keep rehearsal time productive and fun, but not lengthy.

While musicals have been a primary focus of the ministry, it is our intention to present a variety of works that are stimulating, thought-provoking, professional and appropriate for all members of our community.

Examples of past productions include:
The King and I
Greater Tuna
Bye Bye Birdie
Steel Magnolias
The Sound of Music
Harvey
Picnic
The Miracle Worker
Traveler in the Dark
Hallelujah Girls

Opportunities abound at Oak Grove for all ages and stages.  We encourage you to “Come Play With Us!”

Every summer, the Drama ministry joins with Theatre Works of GA to produce
two weeks of performance camp for children age 4 – 8th grade. Campers
learn the fundamentals of stage acting through interactive play, games, exercises and hands-on activities that stimulate creativity and physical
expression. Each week focuses on a special topic, such as Shakespeare for
Young Actors, Performing in Musical Theatre, The Art of Clowning or Learning
to Perform Commedia. In alternate years, the ministry produces a summer
show featuring children who have been through camp training.
